Whether you&#8217;re meeting for the first time, or simply want an evening out with your OH sans kids, a place that&#8217;s perfect for couples without being contrived can be hard to find. Which is why we&#8217;ve curated a list of the ultimate romantic restaurants in the capital, complete with cosy candle-lit corners and ravishing cuisine. </p>

<p>Starting strong with a legendary restaurant where many a London love affair has begun over the last thirty years. It&#8217;s neither opulent nor grand, which is what makes it so utterly perfect for a cosy, candle-lit, dinner à&nbsp;deux, and the dishes are ideal for sharing (crab meat focaccia, buttermilk panacotta). Best of all though is the wine list, which is lengthy, excellent and a complete bargain. </p>

<p>This swoonsome French restaurant has a blossom-adorned conservatory which is quite simply one of the prettiest, most romantic places to eat in London. Ok make that anywhere. Crisp white table cloths, an al fresco terrace with fairy lights, attentive waiters (but not too attentive) and dishes that look like works of art (really, check out the edible flowers) mean Clos Maggiore just had to make our list. </p>

<p>Named after an infamous courtesan who lived nearby, Kitty Fisher&#8217;s lies in a beautiful Georgian townhouse in historic Shepherd Market and has all the classic ingredients needed for falling in love (or lust); velvet booths, atmospheric lighting, award-winning British food and a cellar stocked with silky Old World wines plus strong liquor. You&#8217;re welcome. </p>

<p>One of London&#8217;s sexiest restaurants is ideal for date nights. From the decor inspired by the Orient Express to the booths with &#8216;press for Champagne&#8217; buttons, seductive menu filled with dishes like caviar and chilled Scottish lobster and a cocktail list featuring aphrodisiacs like the Oyster Martini, this place is seemingly made for romance (and good times).  </p>

<p>This gorgeous antique-filled Grade ll Georgian mansion has to be seen to be believed. Built for the Duke of Brunswick in 1758, it&#8217;s now a café, cocktail bar and restaurant with a delightful outdoor terrace, intimate private rooms and historic vault for celebrations. In short, if the date&#8217;s going well, you can enjoy an entire night out under one, spectacular roof. Genius. </p>

<p>Set in the old judges’ dining room at Grade II-listed Sessions House, this place feels very in-the-know, which is bound to impress a date. As are the artfully distressed walls, tables with white cloths and candles, fireplaces, terraces and rooftop bar. Feed each other white asparagus with truffle then slink off to the secret garden for cocktails and kisses. </p>

Step aboard this 125-year-old whitewashed Dutch barge and you&#8217;ll instantly be charmed by the decor and award-winning dishes like oysters, spring onion oil and blood orange. What&#8217;s more, if the sun&#8217;s still shining (or setting) you can enjoy drinks together on the terrace or in the stunning riverside garden. Floats Muddy&#8217;s boat. </p>

<p>It&#8217;s a pub, so ideal if you&#8217;re seeking a more relaxed date night venue, however the first floor restaurant definitely still delivers on romantic vibes and delicious responsibly sourced food, like hand dived scallops and vension bourguignon. There&#8217;s also a scenic rooftop garden for late night drinks on a summer&#8217;s evening and even a handful of bedrooms if the evening goes exceptionally well&#8230;</p>

<p>Fourteen floors up on the top of the Hoxton hotel lies this splendid restaurant, with one of the most romantic terraces in the city. It&#8217;s hard not to lose your head and your heart while enjoying panoramic views of the city and tucking into succulent seafood like wild lobster rice and Cornish mussels, plus some meaty options like Jersey ribeye if that&#8217;s your thing. Arrive early for the daily oyster hour (3-6pm), best accompanied by a glass of something bubbly. </p>
