<p>London&#8217;s restaurant scene is spectacular right now, with a galaxy of Michelin stars and some of the hottest young chefs on the planet. However it comes at a high price and we could do without the big bill at the end right now, which is where fixed price menus come in. Michelin-star dining for less than £50? Err, yes please! </p>

<p>Quality West African food in the West End is a big deal, even more of a big deal is chef-founder Adejoke Bakare who became the first black woman in the UK to receive a Michelin-star last year. Muddy&#8217;s a fan. We&#8217;re also a fan of the three-course lunch menu which rings in at a reasonable £45 and includes dishes like Asun (pressed lamb belly, red pepper &amp; anchovy sauce) and Èbìrìpò<br>(chargrilled guineafowl, celeriac cake, jalapeño &amp; bitter leaf sauce, ̣ègúsí sauce). Delish. </p>

<p>The wine, food and arts mag turned restaurant is all about pairing classic and quirky wines with its Franglais plates (put together by former <em>The Sportsman</em> exec Stephen Harris no less), so you might want to block out a decent chunk in your Outlook calendar. Head to its flagship eatery on Lamb&#8217;s Conduit Street (there&#8217;s now three Noble Rot restaurants in town) and get your laughing gear round its daily set summer lunch menu for a fraction of the cost of a la carte. It&#8217;s an easy-on-the-pocket £24 for two courses and £28 for three, so there should be plenty left in the bank to try some vino too. Available 12pm – 2.30pm daily.</p>

<p>One Michelin-starred contemporary Indian coastal cuisine served in a gorgeous restaurant furnished with antique mirror, marble table tops and terrace doors opening onto sun-dappled Blandford Street? Sounds ideal for summer dinner dates, but pricey. Well fear not because Muddy&#8217;s discovered there&#8217;s a set price lunch and early evening (5-6.15pm) menu which rings in at two courses for £40, and includes mouth-watering dishes like chicken chop ghee roast with mix sprouts sundae and green coconut chammanthi. </p>

<p>This residency turned permanent fixture on the contemporary dining scene has got an awards roll call as long as your arm and chefs <em>looooove</em> the food here. Try the mushroom parfait with shiitake and grey oyster mushrooms from its own mushroom treehouse or the flamed mussels with bacon butter sauce, pickled lemon and parsley. There&#8217;s a broader range of options than many of the capital&#8217;s set menus with four or five dishes to choose from per course and simpler dishes like Fallow&#8217;s &#8216;Dairy cow burger&#8217;, so everyone&#8217;s happy. It&#8217;s £42 for three courses, and you can add sides like fries with kombu seasoning for £7 – and why not? Available Mon-Fri, 12-3.30pm.</p>

<p>&#8216;Rooted in Thailand, Uniquely British’ is the tagline of this fabulous one-Michelin star restaurant, which uses ingredients like crab and venison sourced from across the UK and reimagined with Thai flavours into genuinely original dishes.  Predictably, it&#8217;s expensive to dine here, however the lunch tasting menu (£65), with dishes like Blythburgh pork chop, scallop roe &amp; smoked chilli relish is a bit of a bargain when you consider it&#8217;s half the price of the dinner menu (£125)</p>

<p>This Thai hotspot on Rupert Street channels late night Bangkok vibes in gorgeously garish surroundings (craving some crispy chicken skin and a Singha beer at midnight? This is your place). The set menu offers a spread of six of its big hitter dishes including pickled mustard greens with Chinese sausage and Cellophane Noodles in Speedboat&#8217;s trademark Suki Sauce with Seafood. It&#8217;s available anytime but must be ordered by the whole table and costs £39pp.</p>

<p>Michelin-starred Italian cuisine reinvented by exec chef Rob Chambers into something truly sublime. If you&#8217;re keen to dine there but wary of the price point, consider booking the Bar Express Lunch (two courses £32, three courses £38), enjoyed at the bar rather than in the swish dining room. The food is the same high standard, like fried Jerusalem artichoke with king oyster mushrooms and roscoff onion, so the biggest decision is not which spot to dine in but which dessert to savour &#8211; the Tiramisu or caramelised lemon tart with roast fennel ice cream? You decide. </p>

<p>A 20-cover restaurant plating up innovative Indian inspired small plates? No wonder it&#8217;s tough to get a booking. So hit the weekday set menu and you should be able to bag a much coveted table and a chance to try beauties like okra fries and saag with tandoori paneer. Expect the pay £22 for two courses and £25 for three. Available Mon – Fri, 12pm –3pm. </p>

<p>Love chef Tom Seller&#8217;s Story restaurants? Then you&#8217;ve gotta get yourself down to his Mayfair eatery where it&#8217;s the stuff of foodie fables. Seasonal ingredients take top billing with dishes like tempura of winter vegetables and warm black vinegar are the star, or how about pappardelle of fallow venison ragù, red wine and pangrattato? It&#8217;s £39 for two courses and £45 for three. Available Mon-Sat, 12–3pm.</p>

<p>If you rate British foraged, wild and locally-grown food then you&#8217;ll rate this place. It helps of course that proprietors the Gladwin brothers own a gorgeous farm and sprawling vineyard in the rolling hills of Sussex. Tuck into the likes of sticky glazed pork belly, house pickle and crackling and wild garlic rotisserie chicken with green salsaall for £24 (two courses, £28 for three) – the proverbial bunny isn&#8217;t compulsory dining. Start with one of the in-house infused cocktails and sashay your way back down the King&#8217;s Road after lunch. Available Tue – Sat, 12pm – 3pm.</p>

<p>French Med cooking at its finest. It might have been awarded a Michelin-star, but The Ninth retains a relaxed neighbourhood vibe serving up seasonal dishes like seabream carpaccio, orange, pickled fennel  and black olive oil and lamb nicoise salad, anchovy and black olive dressing made from the freshest ingredients possible. Two-course fixed price lunch £35 is a bargain, the three-course for £38 even more so. </p>

<p>Don&#8217;t expect a peaceful and intimate affair, this popular counter restaurant is very much influenced by the clattery, vibrant offerings of the cultures from which it draws its food &#8211; Jerusalem, southern Spain, Italy, and north Africa. Pull up a stool and feast on the fixed price weekday lunch menu &#8211; £28 for three courses, including a choice of two starters, three mains and a couple of desserts. Try the chicken labanieh with yoghurt sauce, chilli butter and burnt onion and round off with the ice cream sandwich to finish. It&#8217;s available Mon–Fri, 12pm–2.30pm. </p>

<p>If you like your classics then Theo Randall&#8217;s eponymous Italian at the InterContinental on Park Lane will be right up your strada (<a href="https://london.muddystilettos.co.uk/eat-out/theo-randall-at-the-intercontinental-mayfair/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">read the Muddy review here</a>). It&#8217;s limited to Tue – Thu, 5.30-6.30pm, but if you can make that work, you&#8217;re in for treats like pappardelle with slow cooked beef ragu and Amalfi lemon tart to finish. Why not add a Negroni, Aperol Spritz or Prosecco for authenticity? It&#8217;s £35pp, or there&#8217;s a lunch menu at £28 for two courses, £33 for three, available Tue–Fri, 12–2pm.</p>

<p>Looking for some old school glam? Check out chef Iain Smith&#8217;s fancy British grill eatery. A la carte it&#8217;s a special night out kinda place but go for the fixed prices menu and you can enjoy his fab food for a mere £25 for two courses or £29 for three courses if you can&#8217;t resist the blood orange cheesecake with white chocolate biscuit crunch and dulce de leche ice cream<em>.</em> I mean. Available Mon –Sat, lunch and dinner.</p>
