<p><a href="https://www.seacontainerslondon.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sea Containers London</a> spreads along the South Bank of the River Thames from Blackfriars Bridge like an elegant ocean liner. A short stroll from Tate Modern, St Paul’s Cathedral, London Eye and Royal Festival Hall, its location (and views) are exemplary and its nod to nautical interiors have been wowing guests since 2014. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-vibe">The Vibe</h2>

<p>Sophisticated yet relaxed. City workers, tourists and groups of friends mingle in the buzzy ground floor restaurant, which spills out onto an open air terrace complete with striped seating, lush plants and epic views. Inside it’s vast and quirky from the get-go thanks to a cavernous reception housing a red phone box, blue knot sculpture and board with ever-changing cheeky quotes like ‘All you need is love…but a little chocolate every now and then doesn’t hurt.’ Amen to that. There’s a Curzon cinema in the basement and  slick bar 12th Knot on the rooftop, but right now it’s all about the new suites.&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-cabin-suites-nbsp">The Cabin Suites&nbsp;</h2>

<p>The hotel launched four new suites in April &#8211; Mid-Century, Dynasty, Edwardian and, my favourite, the Art Deco Cabin &#8211; which are bunched together on the 15th Floor. You instantly know you’re entering VIP territory as the corridor decor changes from grey to bright red, including a red carpet which is apt, because celebrities like Emma Willis had checked in the night before Muddy stayed to attend the BAFTAs at the Royal Festival Hall nearby. </p>



<p>I stayed in the Art Deco Cabin and it didn&#8217;t disappoint from the moment I stepped through its red door. The styling is exquisite and unlike anywhere else I’ve stayed in the capital,&nbsp;from the well-stocked bar with crystal glasses to the free-standing silver bathtub in the marble-tiled bathroom, plush king-sized bed backed by a geometric wood headboard and bookended by Art Deco walnut bedside tables. The antique furnishings were sourced by Jacu Strauss, Designer and Creative Director of Lore Group, and I particularly loved the vintage reupholstered white sofa from the 20s, which is as comfy as it is cool, though I didn’t dare drink my Negroni cocktail on it for fear of spills.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Talking of cocktails, one of the highlights of my stay was a 6pm knock on the door which turned out to be a waiter pushing a drinks trolley and offering to make me a tipple &#8211; why doesn&#8217;t this ever happen at home? I couldn’t decide, so he took charge and whipped me up a Negroni in no time &#8211; what a fantastic service (all included in the room price) and such a memorable start to the evening.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I loved all the extra touches, such as the geometric mirrors, box of retro After Eight mints, telescope (ideal for gazing at St Paul’s across the river, commuters striding across Millennium Bridge and people cooling off on the slither of beach by the Thames), and beautiful ornaments and ephemera like a vintage perfume bottle.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In contrast to all the Deco decor, the curated mini bar drawer is thoroughly modern with some surprises like calm and sleep patches, multi-use phone charger and travel adapter and even a cheeky couples’ box with condoms, lube and passion dice. Though tbh a night of passion might be tricker than you imagine after all that free booze combined with the world’s comfiest bed &#8211; you might nod off before you can get it on. Only the thought of seeing London and the River Thames at sunrise could lure me out of bed the next morning.&nbsp;</p>



<p>You’re also entitled to some major perks if you check into a cabin suite, including a Champagne breakfast in-room or the restaurant, Sea Containers Curzon movie tickets and a late 1pm check out.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sea Containers Restaurant is an all-day affair from breakfast via brunch, lunch and dinner, and is impressive, particularly when its floor-to-ceiling doors are flung open so the Thames is merely a bread roll&#8217;s throw away (though I didn’t test that theory). </p>



<p>Breakfast felt decadent. An elevated buffet with delicious, dinky pots of granola and yogurt, fresh pastries, fresh fruit, meats and cheeses, there’s a live cooking station for all your egg and pancake-related needs and an endless supply of tea, coffee and juices including a Mimosa if you’re feeling in a celebratory mood.&nbsp;</p>



<p>There’s a light transatlantic vibe to the evening menu, I started with deliciously seabass ceviche taco with red onion salsa, which the waiter recommended and was a great choice, followed by Porthilly mussels in white wine with charred bread, though the Surrey farm rib eye with watercress and green peppercorn sauce was also a contender. Side orders include fries, spring greens and hispi cabbage, which the whole of London seems to have gone crazy for this summer.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-verdict">Verdict</h2>



<p>Sea Containers London&#8217;s new Cabin Suites are everything you want from a five-star London hotel experience: unique, stylish and exclusive. I thought the decor was fabulous and not in the least bit gimmicky, which can so easily happen when a hotel adopts a theme. Next time, I’d like to try the Agua Spa and the Ship Shape Suite, complete with Peloton bike, yoga area, mirrored wall and weights.</p>



<p><strong>Good for: </strong>Stylish good times, like a honeymoon, birthday celebration or decadent, sexy break with your OH.&nbsp;</p>



<p><strong>Bad for:</strong> Your wallet. A room this cool doesn’t come cheap.&nbsp;</p>
