<p>No list of best autumnal walks would be complete without London’s largest Royal Park. It&#8217;s amazing year-round, but we love it best in autumn when the 2,500 acre landscape transforms into a colourful backdrop of gold, orange, red and brown hues. Find the Isabelle Plantation to discover fiery maple trees, seasonal lichens and mushrooms and hike to the top of King Henry’s Mound for spectacular views of the park in Fall.&nbsp;</p>

<p>There&#8217;s 790 acres to kick leaves around on, but keep things simple and follow the seven-mile <a href="https://www.alltrails.com/en-gb/trail/england/london/hampstead-heath-circular-walk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hampstead Heath Circular Trail</a>, which starts and finishes at Parliament Hill taking in Kenwood House, the ponds, Lime Avenue and Goodison Fountain, all of which are surrounded by a blaze of colourful trees, particularly Lime Avenue which transforms into a tunnel of gold. Keep an eye out for nut-hoarding squirrels, mushrooms and bountiful hedgerows (we&#8217;ve spotted some blackberries still around). </p>

<p>Vicky Park is vast (two hundred and thirteen acres to be precise) and a true East End treasure, with playgrounds, lakes and even a temple. It&#8217;s also the perfect spot for an autumnal Sunday stroll, whether you’re after a full-on hike complete with pile of leaves to wade through or simply take a stroll to the idyllic lakeside Pavilion Café for a decent coffee and to stare at nature, from the changing colour of the trees to the friendly ducks. </p>

<p>Bonkers for conkers? Well Greenwich Park has lots of &#8217;em at this time of year, so you can fill your pockets on a Sunday stroll here. There are sweet chestnuts to forage too, courtesy of the park&#8217;s 400-year-old Spanish sweet chestnut trees, and across from the 750-year-old Queen Elizabeth Oak. Obvs walk up the hill to the Royal Observatory for the panoramic city views. </p>

<p>If you&#8217;re after a gentle stroll rather than a long, wind-swept hike, you can&#8217;t do better that a wander around some of the 54 acres of this tranquil West London park. It&#8217;s more wooded in the north, which is particularly scenic at this time of year, but do hunt out the Kyoto Garden, a central park-within-a-park that&#8217;s currently ablaze with orange and red as the acer trees transform for autumn. There&#8217;s also a peaceful waterfall, koi-filled pond, and winding cobbled paths. </p>

<p>Tucked away in North West London, you might think Little Venice is too urban to give autumnal feels, but the canal towpaths are actually lined with trees which look stunning right now. Start your walk where the Grand Union and Regent&#8217;s Canals meet, then follow the peaceful paths upstream. As you meander, you’ll pass by quaint waterside cafes, quirky canal boats, posh townhouses and picturesque pubs &#8211; make a day of it and book the <a href="https://www.thewaterway.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Waterway</a> for a delicious Sunday roast. And don&#8217;t miss the enchanting <a href="https://www.parksandgardens.org/places/rembrandt-gardens" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Rembrandt Gardens</a>. </p>
