<p>Round of applause for Alexandra Burke (<em>The X Factor, Sister Act, The Bodyguard, Curfew</em>) who has been chosen to play legendary Chaka Khan in the world premiere of new musical <a href="https://muddystilettos.tixculture.com/london/shows/35372-im-every-woman-the-chaka-khan-musical" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><em>I&#8217;m Every Woman</em></a><em> </em>launching at The Peacock Theatre next spring (<strong>5-28 March, 2026</strong>; tickets £46). We can&#8217;t think of anyone better suited to play the multi-platinum selling icon and her rise to stardom &#8211; Alexandra&#8217;s sold more than 5 millions records and had three number one hits in the UK herself. <p>Just in time for party season is <a href="https://www.instagram.com/esmeraldasmayfair/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Esmeralda’s Mayfair</a>, a swanky new live lounge inspired by the golden age of New York, opening this December at <a href="https://www.mandarinoriental.com/en/london/mayfair?src=loc.yext.momay.ggl" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mandarin Oriental Mayfair</a> on Hanover Square. From Thurs-Sat there&#8217;ll be  a six-piece band playing soul, funk, and disco, plus DJs to take the party into the early hours. Food-wise it&#8217;s all about luxe bites, think caviar-topped chicken nuggets, Wagyu sliders, lobster rolls and oyster towers, paired with classic cocktails. </p>

<p><a href="https://virgintrainsticketing.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Virgin Trains</a> is on track (yep, we went there) to rival <a href="https://www.eurostar.com/uk-en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Eurostar</a>, recently revealing plans to start shuttling Londoners across the channel to Paris by 2030. After getting the green light from the Office of Rail and Road (ORR) to use a depot to store its trains in east London, it&#8217;s all systems go for Sir Richard Branson&#8217;s choo choos. Muddy&#8217;s excited by the news because A) compeition should result in lower prices &#8211; it currently costs around £78 return from London St Pancras International Station to Paris with Eurostar, which has had a monopoly on the route for 30 years. And B) because Branson wants a rail revolution, so you&#8217;ll be able to travel from London further into France and onto Switzerland and Germany. </p>

<p>The collaboration we never knew we needed, but now it&#8217;s here, it makes perfect sense. <a href="https://www.selfridges.com/GB/en/inspiration/disney-x-selfridges/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Selfridges &amp; Disney A Most Magical Christmas</a> is major, and it&#8217;s not just the illuminations (check out Castle in the Sky above Oxford Street, including Tinker Bell sprinkling pixie dust over the store), window dressings or Disney Classics afternoon tea we&#8217;re thirsty for, it&#8217;s also the only-at-Selfridges collections &#8211; think Harry Lambert and Friends Starring Disney, featuring collaborations with Steve O Smith, Stefan Cooke and Chopova Lowena. </p>
