This year&#8217;s BAFTA TV Awards was a scorching affair at the Royal Festival Hall on Southbank &#8211; and we don&#8217;t just mean the outfits. Seriously, it was so warm we spotted Danny Dyer asking a fan to cool him down with a portable, err, fan. 



Sweltering temperatures aside, it was a veritable celebrity soup of actors, comedians, reality stars and influencers from the gogglebox, so Muddy strapped on our stilettos and joined the fray. Here&#8217;s what went down. 



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-2pm-queue-amp-pose">2pm: Queue &amp; pose </h2>

After a lengthy queue to walk the red carpet (they don&#8217;t show that on TV), the event doors open and Muddy follows behind Youtuber Adeola Patronne, who&#8217;s wearing a crazy tight liquid bronze dress. Time to pose against the blue BAFTA background *suck in stomach, hand on hip, smile*.

Around the corner there&#8217;s a lengthy red carpet, divided into two paths &#8211; one for stars alongside a bank of photographers and journalists, and a second walk for non-stars. A line of security staff with shades and ear pieces divide the two and they look menacing enough to guarantee you don&#8217;t &#8216;accidentally&#8217; stray into the wrong section.

Muddy walks the red carpet at the same time as Lenny Rush, Ted Lasso star Kola Bokkini (actually outshined by his sister who wears a jaw-dropping white bustier top and trousers), JB Gill from JLS, looking super dapper in a maroon dinner jacket and bow tie, and Tasha Ghouri, who wears an insanely tight white corset (we have no idea how she manages to walk in it, impressive).

We hang around and see Jamie Lang and wife Sophie Habboo strut their stuff (she&#8217;s stunning IRL with perfect skin), Emilia Fox pose in a super summery floral dress and Baby Reindeer&#8217;s Jessica Gunning, who&#8217;s wearing a really flattering floor-length velvet, off-the-shoulder gown. 



Host Alan Cumming turns up in a jacket with wings and hugs and poses with singer Jessie J, who&#8217;s also wearing a jacket and trousers and dances away on the carpet &#8211; clearly excited to be making her first appearance on a UK stage in six years. Female tailoring is the look of the day, with TV presenter Emma Willis sporting a suit alongside her husband Matt Willis and Laura Whitmore wearing a black and white tux with a slick of red lippy.

A drinks reception on the third floor at Skylon was super hot (floor-to-ceiling windows and 22˚C are greenhouse conditions FYI), but that didn&#8217;t stop the stars mingling and quaffing Champagne. 



We spotted Girls Aloud&#8217;s Kimberly Walsh, looking stunning in a floor-length monochrome dress, and Love Island&#8217;s Maura Higgins, who stole the show in a pale green, halter-neck ballgown with train, which influencer Luke Hamnett did a great job of carrying for her.

Theatre doors open and the crowd starts to settle in for the three-hour ceremony (Muddy has jelly sweets in our purse for energy) and water stations are set up outside to keep everyone hydrated. 



We take a seat next to Kimberly Walsh (we&#8217;re practically bezzie mates by now), and a row behind Maura Higgins (who somehow manages to sit down in a ballgown). It&#8217;s celeb central, with Real Housewives of Cheshire star Christine McGuinnes gliding by in a super tight white dress with metallic drips over the chest (not an outfit for the faint-hearted or a trip to Tesco). 



At 4.30am the ceremony begins and it&#8217;s emosh. Early on Jessica Gunning wins Best Supporting Actress for her role in stalker smash hit Baby Reindeer and said it has been &#8216;life-changing&#8217;. Ruth Jones steals the show when she picks up a gong for best Female Performance in a Comedy as Vanessa in Gavin &amp; Stacey &#8211; she started out in character then switched to her normal voice (quite posh!) and profusely thanked her co-star James Corden (and hinted at future projects, woo hoo). A special award for ITV&#8217;s Mr Bates V the Post Office got a huge roar as the cast and crew crowded the stage. 



Another highlight is Jessie J&#8217;s performance of The Award &#8211; we never realised quite how amazing her voice is, it&#8217;s so good it gives us goosebumps, and not forgetting Danny Dyer who wins best Male Performance in a Comedy for Mr Big Stuff. Everyone taking to the stage had been warned not to swear, but Danny can&#8217;t resist and accidentally tells his daughters (Sunnie and Dani) that he&#8217;d &#8216;f**king done it&#8221; which raises a laugh from the crowd and presumably a quick edit for the BBC as the BAFTAs goes live at 7pm!

All too soon it&#8217;s over and time to hit the after party, while the stars step downstairs for a swanky supper. Muddy loves the outside space with illuminated TV Awards lettering and al fresco bar on the terrace of the Royal Festival Hall, the perfect place to sip a glass of bubbly before heading home to eat some toast &#8211; the lack of food at the BAFTAs is clearly how stars stay so skinny.
