Artichoke restaurant, Amersham
Few places take their food more seriously than Artichoke – a Michelin starred neighbourhood restaurant that places innovation and seasonality front and centre.

Since first opening in 2002, Artichoke has been lauded with a gamut of awards and accolades. You name it, they’ve most likely won it. Chef Patron Laurie Gear and his wife Jacqueline were delighted to achieve a well-deserved Michelin star in 2019, and have held it ever since.
You’ll find their Michelin restaurant conveniently located in the beautiful old town of Amersham, just a zippy 45 mins from London with its own stop on the Metropolitan line. There’s a few menu options to whet the appetite, starting with a fabulous value Set Lunch, three courses from the Artichoke menu, vegetarian options, a lunch taster, and the full nine-course blowout with optional cheese. Accompanying wine flights are also available.
The food is modern British, with an emphasise on free-range and local where possible, and the interior is Scandi-influenced, designed by award-winning Fiona Johnston Parke who elevates the original features of the 16th century Grade II-listed building while creating a seamless, modern design featuring muted tones of walnut, lilac, and grey. Michelin levels of service come as standard, but the tone here remains warm, relaxed and unpretentious. It’s amongst the small clutch of restaurants that Muddy confidently returns to for special occasions and guaranteed quality. Go and enjoy.
