If you’re after high street big hitters <a href="https://southsidewandsworth.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Southside Shopping Centre</a>, on the edge of Wandsworth, has loads to browse for all ages, from Accessorize and Oliver Bonas to H&amp;M kids, Boots and Waterstones.&nbsp; </p>

<p>No excuse not to get in shape in this neck of the woods, with great walks right on your doorstep including along the riverside, King George’s Park (where you’ll also find a children’s adventure playground, sports pitches, tennis courts and a bowling green), and vast Wandsworth Common which also has tennis courts to hire. For expert yoga classes and more (including a book club!) look up <a href="https://www.wandsworthyoga.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Soma Yoga</a> by Wandsworth Bridge and <a href="https://www.placesleisure.org/centres/latchmere-leisure-centre/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Latchmere Leisure Centre</a> boasts a pool, gym and loads of exercise classes.&nbsp;Want something more leisurely? Try your hand at <a href="https://www.puttinthepark.com/mini-golf-courses/wandsworth-park/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Putt in the Park</a>, a 12-hole course on Wandsworth Park. Ok it’s mini golf, but this is still golfing in London guys.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Lots to get locally involved with here. <a href="https://www.wandsworthfringe.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Wandsworth Arts Fringe</a> (6-22 June, 2025), is quite something, bringing&nbsp;together hundreds of creatives&nbsp;in&nbsp;an&nbsp;annual&nbsp;extravagance celebrating cutting-edge theatre, comedy, live music, art exhibitions and outdoor entertainment. <a href="https://www.theship.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Ship</a> is <em>way</em> more than a mere pub, it&#8217;s a real local meeting spot with everything from quiz nights to DJs. And <a href="https://www.spacemade.co/locations/london/wandsworth/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Gatehouse</a> is a stylish co-working space where freelancers congregate. </p>

<p>Head to the neighbourhood border and you&#8217;ll find <a href="https://southsidewandsworth.com/leisure/gravity-max" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Gravity Southside</a>, three floors of e-karting, urban golf, darts, immersive gamebox, bowling and cinema. Beyond Wandsworth&#8217;s border you&#8217;re surrounded by some of London&#8217;s most exciting boroughs, including Battersea with its reimagined power station with shops and restaurants galore, zoo and theatre, while Clapham&#8217;s one of London&#8217;s most vibrant neighbourhoods, with a plethora of shops, restaurants and bars to enjoy.  </p>

<p>So much culture in one borough. Check out, in no particular order,  <a href="https://olivercontemporary.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Oliver Contemporary Gallery</a> by Wandsworth Common, while <a href="https://wandsworthart.com/welcome-to-wip-space-a-new-artist-studio-and-gallery-space-for-wandsworth/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Wandsworth Art</a> is a new gallery and space for 16 creatives founded by artist Mark Nader in 19th-Century Wentworth House.  <a href="http://magdaleneplayers.com/location" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Magdalene Players</a> put on all kinds of local performances (think Chekhov&#8217;s <em>The Seagull)</em>, while walkable <a href="https://bac.org.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Battersea Arts Centre</a> is renowned for world-class theatre and music and there&#8217;s the <a href="https://www.rca.ac.uk/study/the-rca-experience/our-campus/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Royal College of Art Battersea </a>close by. </p>

<p>Get baby and tots&#8217; names down early on the waiting list for <a href="https://nfamilyclub.com/n-wandsworth/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Wee Ones Day Nursery</a>, which lies in a beautiful period building between the park and common. <a href="https://www.busybeeschildcare.co.uk/nursery/wandsworth" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Busy Bees Wandsworth</a> has so many activities on offer (sensory room, language classes, music, dance, baby ballet and yoga) that we might sign up ourselves. Bright and breezy <a href="https://www.brighthorizons.co.uk/our-nurseries/west-hill-day-nursery-and-preschool" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">West Hill Day Nursery</a> is a convenient 10-minute walk from Wandsworth Town train station. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-schools">SCHOOLS </h2>



<p>Co-ed <a href="https://www.wandsworthprep.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Wandsworth Preparatory School</a> on the edge of the common is super popular (forest school, wraparound care, friendly vibe). Broomwood co-ed Pre-School, Pre-Prep and Prep School are Muddy-rated (<a href="https://muddystilettos.co.uk/kids/school-reviews/review-broomwood-prep-schools-london/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">read the review here</a>). <a href="https://www.eatonhouseschools.com/clapham/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Eaton House the Manor</a> in neighbouring Clapham has a co-ed nursery and then separate Prep Schools for boys and girls up to 13 yrs. </p>



<p>Award-winning <a href="https://www.emanuel.org.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Emanuel School</a> in Battersea is a large co-ed educating kids all the way through to Sixth Form, while <a href="https://www.putneyhigh.gdst.net" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Putney High School</a> (girls, junior, senior and Sixth Form) is yet another well-regarded school in the vicinity. Throw in a scattering of Ofsted Outstanding state primaries and secondary schools and you can see why Wandsworth is popular with families. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-best-kept-secret">BEST KEPT SECRET </h2>



<p>One of the best cookery school&#8217;s in London just happens to be in your &#8216;hood! <a href="https://theavenuecookeryschool.com/event/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Avenue</a> has daily activities, which range from Ethiopian cooking classes to sushi workshops and Bake Off for Kids. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-commute">COMMUTE </h2>



<p>Such great transport links you wonder why everyone hasn&#8217;t already moved to Wandsworth. There&#8217;s Wandsworth Town Station (Waterloo in 15 mins) and Wandsworth Common tube (Victoria in 12 mins). Drive-wise you&#8217;re on the A3, which heads straight into Central London. Best of all though is Wandsworth Riverside, where you can catch a Thames Clipper and glide to Chelsea (12 mins) and Embankment (35 mins), what a way to start the day. </p>
