<p>You know Christmas is nearly here when igloos start to pop up on roof terraces, ski chalets line the Southbank and boozers are suddenly festooned with tinsel and fairy lights. London might be home to some of the most stylish bars on the planet, but come winter time we&#8217;re longing for a little more kitsch than class, and these Xmas-themed bars hit the spot perfectly. </p>

<p>Climbing the O2 is always a thrill, but when the reward at the top is an igloo and drinks, we&#8217;re even more inclined to strap on a harness and make it to the summit of the white dome. What&#8217;s inside the igloo? Only snow, gingerbread cookies, hot choc, mulled wine and glasses of bubbly, that&#8217;s what! Runs <strong>21 Nov &#8211; 4 Jan</strong>, tickets £44. </p>

<p>An Alpine-inspired pop-up (<strong>13 Nov &#8211; 31 Dec</strong>) overlooking Skate, Somerset House&#8217;s scenic ice rink. An annual affair by Jimmy Garcia (who also runs Fire &amp; Ice on the edge of the River Thames, see below), it&#8217;s a cosy escape filled with sheepskin rugs, Xmas trees, candles, gloopy raclette for sharing and warming Xmas drinks like mulled wine served at wooden tables. A great spot for friendmas celebrations prior to real Xmas with the rellies. </p>

<p>The capital&#8217;s most Christmassy bar. Yep, we&#8217;ve said it. Miracle takes our top place for the sheer volume of its unapologetically festive decor, from retro Santa lights and sleighs, to miles of tinsel, faux fur throws and strings of fairy lights. As you&#8217;d expect, the drinks menu doesn&#8217;t disappoint either, including must-sip cocktails including the mighty Christmopolitan &#8211; vodka, elderflower, vermouth, spiced cranberry sauce, lime, rosemary and absinthe mist. <p>This 1940s post office-themed cocktail bar on the edge of Borough Market (there&#8217;s also another venue in Soho) is guaranteed to make the run up to Christmas more fun. For starters you have to step though a giant mail box to get in, once inside the Xmas decor is strong and air-powered tubes deliver your cocktails, there&#8217;s a Dead Letter Depot with repurposed telephone switchboards where you can eavesdrop on gossip and then there&#8217;s the matter of Santa&#8217;s missing mail. Sold. </p>

<p>Pine trees, falling snow, reindeer, snowmen, ski racks, piste maps and strings of fairy lights and lanterns &#8211; no, Muddy isn&#8217;t reminiscing about our last ski holiday, but rather the Montague on the Gardens Hotel&#8217;s annual Christmas transformation (<strong>12 Nov &#8211; 31 Dec</strong>). The centrepiece is a bar serving Xmas, well, everything, from 12 flavours of Schnapps and flavoured vodkas, candied pecans, mulled wine, hot spiced cider and mugs of steaming hot chocolate cocktails. Festive joy in a cup as far as Muddy&#8217;s concerned. </p>

<p>Flight Club&#8217;s darts revolution is truly established now &#8211; they have three locations in London alone. The Victoria outpost is ushering in the festive season by transforming its rooftop Magic Gardens into a Winter Paradise, featuring festive reds and golds, evergreen foliage, festoon lighting, heating, soft blankets and bookable private cabins. Now pair that with one of their seasonally inspired cocktails (Xmas menu launches on <strong>16 Nov</strong> &#8211; last year&#8217;s drinks choices included &#8216;Sleigh my Margarita&#8217; and &#8216;Red Velvet Martini&#8217;. Maybe even throw a dart or two if the spirit moves you. Or not. Equally cool.</p>

<p>A Victorian-style pub in the heart of theatreland might sound rather touristy, but come Christmas time it&#8217;s a warm, welcoming spot for Londoners who want to up the merriment factor. Whether you want to dine on a Christmas lunch with all the trimmings or join in a festive Cockney sing-a-long complete with an old joanna (Mon nights in Dec), the decorations, fires and friendly vibe make it a must-visit this season.  </p>

<p>Jimmy&#8217;s pop-ups are legendary, but it&#8217;s the winter warmer igloos and chalets by the River Thames that we love the most. Chomp on unlimited Raclette cheese, potatoes, charcuterie and mini chocolate doughnuts and hot chocolate with marshmallows in the Raclette Bar, or get a mug of mulled wine and lemon and rosemary schnitzel from the Street Food Kitchen. Either way, you&#8217;re in for a toasty treat in the run up to Christmas. Opening date in <strong>Nov </strong>announced very soon. </p>

Make your way to Coppa Club&#8217;s scenic rooftop and work your way through the excellent cocktail list and festive bites when you get peckish. The only downside? These get snapped up quickly, but <a href="https://www.coppaclub.co.uk/putney/igloos/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Coppa Club Putney</a> has more festive igloos. </p>
