<p>Conveniently situated next to Aldgate tube station and a stone’s throw from Spitalfields, Hotel Saint isn&#8217;t one of the city’s most well-known hotels, but that’s what makes it feel so special. Opened in 2023, it ticks nearly all the boxes required for a top hotel stay in London, from the rooftop bar to bedrooms with views of iconic landmarks like the Gherkin and Tower Bridge. The only thing it lacked until now were spa treatments, which is why it has joined forces with nearby <a href="https://theskincospa.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Skin Co Spa</a> to offer guests a new <a href="https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.hotelsaint.com/special-offers/spa-package/__;!!Ivohdkk!nEDCXOxLBpYdevbcyDozDBcACUcH1b7gFecyRShRDpSL__3sVSQC9JQCQvX06QXgqI3FiUftbHuLsoZ9j-VYCfb_BiC8$" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Serenity Spa package</a>. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-vibe">THE VIBE</h2>



<p>Friendly, relaxing and definitely not one of those marble foyer London hotels where you feel judged if you arrive a bit dishevelled after dashing there on foot in the rain after work &#8211; there’s no parking attendant to throw the keys of your Maserati to here. </p>



<p>It’s the staff, as well as the facilities, that elevate the hotel to a four-star. From the warm welcome at reception to a chatty goodbye, I always felt I was in safe hands and that nothing was too much trouble. In a capital where service can often be s bit sketchy, it was really refreshing.&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-spa-nbsp">THE SPA&nbsp;</h2>

<p>Hotel Saint champions local businesses and encourages guests to explore the area, so it was a natural move to collaborate with The Skin Co Spa and offer them some pampering too. Tucked away in nearby Fourier Street, I initially walked straight past Number 35 as its discreet black front door and townhouse exterior  looked nothing like a spa. </p>



<p>This hush-hush, in-the-know vibe (think spa speakeasy) instantly had me hooked. Inside the 17th-Century building there&#8217;s a basement spa area housing a sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi that you can hire for £99 a session &#8211; ideal for a relaxing date night or couple of hours catching up with the girls. On the ground floor is a pleasant waiting room and treatment room, plus there are a further two storeys of rooms.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I booked a Radiance Facial Revival, part of the hotel&#8217;s Serenity Package &#8211; other choices included a Tranquillity Aromatherapy Escape, Harmonizing Hot Stone Massage or Ocean Breeze Salt Scrub. My lovely therapist used Medik8 products and personalised my facial to my specific skin needs, kicking things off with a thorough cleanse followed by a clay mask, hyaluronic acid, LED red light and Vitamin C that left my skin glowing, I&#8217;m talking noticeably plumper, firmer skin with reduced lines. </p>



<p>If I&#8217;d paid for the facial separately it would have been £80, which is a bargain compared to some Central London hotel spas charging triple that for similar results. The fact I felt skin confident enough to walk back to Hotel Saint without applying a layer of my usual lightweight foundation says it all. 10/10.  </p>



<p>There are plenty of other treatments to choose from if you want to deviate from the Serenity Package &#8211; I’ll be back to try the laser lipo &amp; anti-cellulite (£100) and pore minimiser facial (£70). It’s striking how much modern tech there is (dermapens, LED masks, micro-needling etc) in such an historic setting &#8211; the house dates back to 1725 and the treatment room had some original features, making this a pretty unique spa. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-scoff-amp-quaff">SCOFF &amp; QUAFF</h2>

<p>There’s a whiff of the Parisian about The Cardinal Bar &amp; Restaurant’s green banquets, mirrors and low-lit lamps, and it made a cosy setting for a catch up with a friend over supper. The menu was created with wintry evenings in mind, loaded with comforting dishes like a lush, soft burrata starter and grilled pork chop on a bed of creamy mash potato main. </p>



<p>If you get the chance, start or end your evening at<a href="https://jinbolaw.co.uk/about-us/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Jin Bo Law Sky Bar</a> on the top of the Hotel Saint. It’s currently closed for a refurb, but will reopen on 25 Feb and the city views and lengthy cocktail list feel more like they belong in Manhattan than Aldgate. </p>

<p>Breakfast was the unexpected culinary highlight. Prepared for packets of Weetabix and a rotating toaster machine, my friend and I were delighted to see healthy bowls of chia, fresh smoothies, large, flakey croissant and pain aux chocolate and a menu full of mouth-watering ways to start the day, including porridge stirred in coconut milk with a scattering of berries and a top notch avocado on toast, with chilli and poached eggs. </p>

<p>Superior rooms are cosy with a large comfy bed (the white linen is as smooth, clean and soft as you&#8217;d hope for in a multi-star hotel), desk and walk-in shower. If you want something a bit more roomy, upgrade to a suite, which come with a separate lounge area with a sofa, TV, desk, mini bar and bedrooms with plush carpets, padded headboards and The View: think St Botolph Church&#8217;s soaring steeple contrasting against shiny office blocks like The Gherkin, and to the south the River Thames and Tower Bridge. Lit up at night the whole scene is cinematic. </p>

<p>Confession, I&#8217;d forgotten what a great part of London this is. Aldgate&#8217;s easy to overlook but that&#8217;s a mistake because on your doorstep are<strong> Spitalfields Market</strong> (7 minutes), <strong>Tower Bridge</strong> (11 minutes), <strong>Shoreditch</strong> (15 minutes) and <strong>St Paul&#8217;s Cathedral </strong>(20 minutes). For even better views of the city stroll to <a href="https://skygarden.london" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sky Garden</a>, which is ten minutes away from the hotel and home to restaurants, the city&#8217;s highest public garden and a breathtaking terrace. And foodies should make a beeline for legendary <strong>Borough Market</strong> (20 minutes) to browse and shop the stalls.  </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-verdict-nbsp">THE VERDICT&nbsp;</h2>



<p>For city centre pampering that won&#8217;t break the bank, Saint Hotel delivers. From the quirky nearby spa set in a 17th-Century townhouse to the NYC-esque rooftop bar and healthy breakfast offerings, this hotel&#8217;s full of welcome surprises.  </p>



<p><strong>Good for:</strong>&nbsp;If you want a fabulous facial and an overnight stay with plenty of iconic sights and nightspots on your doorstep, walk this way. </p>



<p><strong>Not for:</strong>&nbsp;If you expect your spa break to include a swimming pool, you&#8217;re out of luck. </p>
