<p>We&#8217;ve all browsed works of art, sure, but slept in them? Not an option until The Beaumont hotel&#8217;s recent makeover which includes a facade featuring an enormous inhabitable cubist steel giant designed by world-famous sculptor Anthony Gormley. It might sound like something you&#8217;d dream after too much cheese, but ROOM by Anthony Gormley is a real, oak-clad suite, with no windows and no furniture, other than an enormous bed covered in white organic cotton linen. There is a marble bathroom and Art Deco-style lounge though, which you&#8217;d hope for £2,500pn. </p>

<p>Clue&#8217;s in the name. Muddy’s stayed at this stunning hotel in the reimagined Battersea Power Station and discovered it has the best rooftop pool in London. That aside, its art collection is also special thanks to artist in residence Jaime Hayon, whose work is dotted throughout: gallery, bedrooms and public areas (there are daily tours of the collection). <p>Stepping into fancy five-star Rosewood is like stepping into a living canvas. Filled to the brim with traditional and contemporary art and curiosities, you&#8217;re going to want to spend time checking out the black and white photos by Cecil Beaton in the lifts and corridors, a Mirror Room holding more than 30 works by Simon Bingle, wall-mounted zebra and Jack Russel sculptures by Peter Osborne, and the colourful murals in Scarfes Bar cerated by renowned artist and caricaturist Gerald Scarfe.&nbsp;</p>

<p>You might not have heard of South Place, which lies between Moorgate and Liverpool Street, but it should be on your radar for the Conran-designed interiors and amazing art. You can browse from your bed as each room has pieces selected from Hoxton Art Gallery and Jealous Gallery plus a hand-drawn local map by Emily Chappell. Lining the walls of the hotel’s award-winning brasserie are works by artists Frank Canvas and Zen Xander, and upstairs in Michelin-starred Angler are pieces by Robi Walters. Don&#8217;t miss the lobby&#8217;s two-minute drawings by Damien Florébert Cuypers and the lift&#8217;s digital screen art.   </p>

<p>Hotelier Kit Kemp is well-known for championing everyone from established artists through to up-and-coming students, consequently the art adorning the walls of her flamboyant hotel tends to be original and playful. Outside the garden&#8217;s bronze sculpture centrepiece is by Tony Cragg and Air.Contemporary is the hotel&#8217;s courtyard gallery which has regular mixed and solo exhibitions, most recently <em>Kate Jenkins: Fishy Business</em>, a fun and fabulous collection of beautifully crafted pieces, including sequinned anchovies, knitted prawns and embroidered oysters.&nbsp;</p>

<p>An art-filled, wildly imaginative boutique hotel in the foothills of the Scottish Highland’s Cairngorms National Park. Interiors brim with Scot-inspired wit and romance, from wooden headboards with words by Scottish poet Alec Finlay carved into them, to the cosy Flying Stag bar, which features a taxidermied stag with wings. Among these works are large-scale commissions by internationally-renowned artists including Zhang Enli, Guillermo Kuitca, Subodh Gupta, Richard Jackson and Bharti Kher. Apparently more than 14,000 pieces of art, including antiques, have been integrated into the rooms and public spaces, no wonder arty creatives like Alexa Chung and Judy Dench adore it.</p>

<p>The original&nbsp;Artist Residence started in Brighton with a hotel just back from the sea-front that needed decorating on a tight budget – hence an invitation for&nbsp;local artists to stay for free in return for their visual input. The results were modern, quirky and fun and caught on immediately, resulting in art-filled sister hotels in London, Penzance, Bristol and&nbsp;Oxfordshire – a 16<sup>th</sup>&nbsp;century thatched inn, with just five bedrooms and three suites, including a converted Shepherd’s Hut. It&#8217;s real traditional/modern mash up, think William Morris wallpaper teamed with neon signs and modern art.
