Big news cult movie lovers: <a href="https://designmuseum.org/exhibitions/wes-anderson-the-archives" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Wes Anderson: The Archives</a> exhibition (21 Nov &#8211; 26 July, 2026) is opening at The Design Museum, the first time a retrospective of the film maker&#8217;s unique work has showed in the UK. The museum&#8217;s been given unprecedented access to three decades of the cult filmmaker&#8217;s output, making this unmissable. 



Another must-see exhibition opening at the end of the month is <a href="https://www.tate.org.uk/whats-on/tate-britain/turner-and-constable" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Turner &amp; Constable Rivals &amp; Origins</a> (27 Nov-12 April, 2026; £24) at Tate Britain. Shining a spotlight on the rivalry between two of Britain&#8217;s greatest painters, who were born within a year of each other 250 years ago, you&#8217;ll get to browse 170 sketches and paintings including Turner’s The Burning of the Houses of Lords and Commons (not seen in Britain for over a century) and The White Horse, considered one of Constable’s greatest artistic achievements. 



Meanwhile, Hockney fans have been forming an orderly queue to see the new <a href="https://www.annelyjudafineart.co.uk/exhibitions/396-david-hockney-some-very-very-very-new-paintings-not-yet/works/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">David Hockney exhibition</a> (7 Nov-28 Feb, 2026; free) at Annaley Juda Fine Art, which recently relocated to Hanover Square in Mayfair. It&#8217;s marking the move with a showcase of its finest Hockneys, including some works produced by the artist in the last six months using paint and iPad. 



Wayne McGregor’s&nbsp;<a href="https://www.somersethouse.org.uk/whats-on/wayne-mcgregor-infinite-bodies" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Infinite Bodies</a>&nbsp;exhibition (30 Oct-22 Feb; tickets £19.50) is going down a storm at Somerset House. The last of SH&#8217;s 25th anniversary celebrations, the exhibition&#8217;s been specially commissioned, and it&#8217;s a futuristic affair, with multi-sensory choreographed dance installations (with random live performances too) and collabs with fashion designers like Gareth Pugh and music producer LEXX.

It&#8217;s also time to get out the cake and candles for Saatchi Gallery, which is celebrating turning 40 with the opening of <a href="https://www.saatchigallery.com/exhibition/the-long-now-saatchi-gallery-at-40" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Long Now</a> (5 Nov-1 March; tickets £10), an exhibition showing a compilation of its greatest hits, including Conrad Shawcross&#8217;s car suspended from a ceiling and Gavin Turk’s fractured Bardo. 



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-music-amp-theatre">MUSIC &amp; THEATRE</h2>

Catch <a href="https://www.fane.co.uk/grayson-perry" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Grayson Perry Are You Good?</a> (20 Nov-7 Dec; tickets £35) at the New Wimbledon Theatre this month. The artist is taking to the boards to discover whether the audience is fundamentally good or evil, via some funny songs, stories and questions like is it more important to be good or right? 



More big news in theatreland this month has bee the opening of the world premiere of&nbsp;<a href="https://muddystilettos.tixculture.com/london/shows/44232-paddington-the-musical" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Paddington the Musical</a> (1 Nov-25 May, 2026; tickets from £32) at the Savoy Theatre. If you and the fam are fans of Michael Bond&#8217;s books (or Studiocanal&#8217;s award-winning films), you&#8217;re going to love this stellar show about the marmalade-loving bear from Peru who arrives at Paddington Station and is taken in by the Brown family. Ideal for ages 6+. 



On a more serious note, Arthur Miller&#8217;s <a href="https://muddystilettos.tixculture.com/london/shows/44102-all-my-sons" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">All My Sons</a> has launched at the Wyndham&#8217;s Theatre (14 Nov-13 March 2026; tickets from £29). A devastating study of family and the cost of success, it was first performed in 1947 and returns to London this Nov in an exciting new production by award-winning director Ivo van Hove (A View from the Bridge, A Little Life). 



You&#8217;ll get goosebumps seeing a magical version of&nbsp;<a href="https://muddystilettos.tixculture.com/london/shows/44740-a-midsummer-nights-dream-globe" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">A Midsummer Night’s&nbsp;Dream</a> by candlelight at&nbsp;The Globe&nbsp;theatre’s indoor Sam Wanamaker Playhouse (13 Nov-31 Jan; tickets from £8). Also showing at the Globe later in the month is <a href="https://muddystilettos.tixculture.com/london/shows/44741-pinocchio-globe" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pinocchio</a> (29 Nov–4 Jan; tickets from £8 standing).

Panto season&#8217;s starting in London (oh no it hasn&#8217;t!), and the two most original ones we have our eyes on are <a href="https://muddystilettos.tixculture.com/london/shows/45312-cinderella" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cinderella</a>&nbsp;at&nbsp;Hackney Empire (22 Nov-31 Jan; tickets from £10) and <a href="https://www.stratfordeast.com/whats-on/all-shows/mama-goose" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mama Goose</a> at Stratford East (21 Nov-3 Jan; tickets from £10). Get more early festive feels at the Peacock Theatre in Holborn, which is showing&nbsp;<a href="https://muddystilettos.tixculture.com/london/shows/26625-the-snowman" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Snowman live</a>&nbsp;(22 Nov-4 Jan; tickets from £22). Author Raymond Briggs’ emosh story of the little boy and his snowman coming to life, then embarking on a magical adventure, before, sniff, he melts, is a total classic.&nbsp;



Music-wise, the&nbsp;<a href="https://efglondonjazzfestival.org.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">EFG Jazz </a>Festival is dominating the capital’s music scene from&nbsp;14-23&nbsp;Nov, with gigs scattered across the city, including up-and-coming bands, established artists, and world-class stars.

Across the pond Americans will be celebrating Thanksgiving on the fourth weekend of November, and this year <a href="https://www.drakeandmorgan.co.uk/blog/2025/07/22/thanksgiving/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Drake &amp; Morgan’s</a>&nbsp;bringing the party to London with&nbsp;its Mix &amp; Dine&nbsp;(18-27 Nov; £75.95), which includes learning how to make two signature cocktails, followed by a traditional Thanksgiving feast with all the trimmings, including roast turkey, pumpkin pie and s’mores. Available to book at The Parlour (Canary Wharf), The Anthologist (Moorgate), Devonshire Terrace (Liverpool Street), and Drake &amp; Morgan King’s Cross. 



The talented crew at&nbsp;<a href="https://www.comptoirbakery.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Comptoir Bakery School</a>&nbsp;in Bermondsey are offering hands-on Christmas Workshops (£100) to learn how to make French festive treats throughout Nov and Dec, like a Christmas buns workshop (27 Nov). 



We&#8217;re also fans of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.instagram.com/theoccasionaldiningclub/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Occasional Dining Club</a> at Pique Café in Lavender Hill. Every two months, they whip up a seasonal menu that’s always on point, think slow-cooked beef cheek, tiramisu donuts, and a surprise shot at the end &#8211;&nbsp;the next one&#8217;s&nbsp;on 20 Nov, tickets £66.50. And don&#8217;t miss Kitchen Theory – a dining experience that’s part science class, part art show – which is running an&nbsp;<a href="https://kitchen-theory.com/event/immersive-science-of-christmas-21st-november-2025/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Immersive Science of Christmas</a> event (21 Nov; £220). Book now if you want to chomp your way through 13 unbelievable courses of wildly imaginative food. 



We&#8217;re also loving the sound of the <a href="https://www.sarnieparty.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sarnie Party</a> (29 Nov; £30 includes three sandwich tokens), a one-day Christmas Sandwich Festival at Somerset House. There&#8217;ll be 15 chefs whipping up Xmas-themed mega sarnies, plus DJs sets, opens 11am, spread the word.

This year’s the 25th anniversary of <a href="https://www.somersethouse.org.uk/whats-on/skate-somerset-house" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Skate at&nbsp;Somerset House</a> (12 Nov-11 Jan; tickets from £11) and we couldn&#8217;t be more excited about whizzing around the&nbsp;iconic courtyard, then tucking into some fondue and mulled wine rink-side. Also check out <a href="https://glidebatterseapowerstation.co.uk/tickets/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Glide at Battersea Power Station</a>, now open (6 Nov-4 Jan, tickets from £18.70). <a href="https://www.kew.org/kew-gardens/whats-on/christmas" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Christmas at Kew Gardens</a>&nbsp;(14 Nov–4 Jan; tickets from £27.50)&nbsp;is the most magical way to start feeling festive &#8211; think 3kms of illuminated tunnels, twinkling jewel-coloured lights, fire pits, and (if it’s anything like last year) dancing lanterns, musical displays, illuminated sculptures&nbsp;and&nbsp;work from international artists being shown for the first time. Best enjoyed with a boozy hot choc (or two).

<a href="https://hydeparkwinterwonderland.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hyde Park Winter Wonderland</a> (14 Nov-1 Jan) is back for another year with its neon-lit fairground rides, German beer tents, skating, an ice bar, and a market with more than 100 cute chalet huts selling Christmasmas bits and pieces you never knew you needed, from expanding snow to out-sized baubles, light-up Santa hats, and candy canes.
