Didn’t you hear? Stanmore’s PizzaExpress has had a mega-makeover and it’s a biggie. Don’t panic just yet, everything we know and love is still the same: the pizzeria sits smack bang on The Broadway, and its menu still serves reliable slices. But now they’ve upped the theatrics with an open kitchen, which allows you to see the Pizzaiolos work their magic.

The interiors also pack a punch of flair with hand-drawn mural wallpaper covering the walls and a statement canvas portrait of founder Peter Boizot. The vibe is easy-going yet polished, fit for big family get-togethers or intimate date nights.

Enjoy your Margherita pizza (and perhaps a chilled margarita too…) and watch the world go by. Menus change seasonally so there’s always something exciting new to try, at the moment we’re eyeing up the Soho ’65 calabrese, with fresh buffalo mozzarella, olives and Gran Milano cheese, hello!

Should you be looking to treat (hmm, distract) the kids this summer, take them along before Sun 11 Aug as kids eat free (one three course piccolo meal per adult main) – a great excuse to chill out minus the picky eating protest at home. Plus, if your little one is a masterchef in the making, you might also want to book them and their friends a pizza making party (these can also be booked for adults, just saying.)

No matter the age groups in your party, the locale also has plenty to offer. You’re a stone’s throw from local jewellers, boutiques, and hotels (we see you day-trippers).
