<p>If you want to inject some peace and calm in your life (don&#8217;t we all?), there&#8217;s a new London hideaway where you can get your zen on. <a href="https://www.1hotels.com/mayfair" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">1 Hotel Mayfair&#8217;s</a> recently-launched Mayfair Mindfulness Suite in collaboration with artist Robi Walters is the first of its kind in the capital and sounding pretty blissful to Muddy right now.  </p>



<p>London-based Robi was the perfect person to work with on the space &#8211; his beautiful series of Chakras paintings are currently brightening up the walls, plus he&#8217;s a meditation practitioner and has recorded guided meditations for guests to listen to through state-of-the-art Bang &amp; Olufsen speakers. </p>



<p>Robi&#8217;s work incorporates recyclable materials, which is another reason he&#8217;s a great match for the luxe five-star with a sustainable, eco edge. Guests staying in the suite also get a Bamford pillow mist, Black Cherry Sleep Mocktail and reusable tote bag painted by the artist. Muddy headed to Zone 1 to zone out. </p>

<p>After working with 1 Hotel Mayfair and West Contemporary last October, I was thrilled to be invited back to showcase my art in their incredible penthouse. We decided to create a well-being room with a twist &#8211; hanging seven vibrantly coloured artworks and installing Bang &amp; Olufsen speakers in each area. This allowed me to share my calming playlist and a bespoke 1 Hotel sleep meditation, making it the perfect retreat after a busy day exploring Mayfair and central London. Curating tranquil, immersive spaces has always been a dream of mine.&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-how-do-mindfulness-and-chakras-impact-you-and-your-work">How do mindfulness and chakras impact you and your work? </h2>

<p>Mindfulness is at the core of my practice. I’ve been meditating for 25 years and now do so three times a day. One of my meditation techniques involves breathing into each of the chakras, helping me find balance &#8211; something I wanted to bring into my artwork. The chakra-inspired pieces really do shift the energy in a room. I’m delighted with how the space looks and feels.&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-you-re-known-for-transformation-artwork-can-you-tell-us-about-your-process-nbsp">You’re known for transformation artwork. Can you tell us about your process?&nbsp;</h2>



<p>Most of my art is made using recycled materials, which I believe carry their own memories. I love incorporating greeting cards &#8211; birthdays, Christmas, weddings &#8211; because they add unique depth and meaning. I spray the cards, cut them by hand, and arrange them into geometric patterns. It’s my way of transforming what people discard into something beautiful, giving these materials a second chance and renewed purpose.&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-where-does-your-inspiration-come-from-nbsp">Where does your inspiration come from?&nbsp;</h2>



<p>My inspiration runs deep, tracing back to my early childhood. It isn’t something I can explain rationally &#8211; it’s more of a feeling I have to create. I never question it; “trust” is the word that comes to mind.&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-led-you-to-this-style-of-art-nbsp">What led you to this style of art?&nbsp;</h2>



<p>I started my collage series back in 2007 &#8211; 18 years ago now, though it feels like yesterday. It all began after watching the documentary <em>Zeitgeist</em>, which really shook up my worldview. It was so edgy and challenging that it pushed me right out of my comfort zone. I looked at all the recyclable materials in my kitchen and thought, “Why throw them away when I could create something new?” That led to my first collage, which a friend bought &#8211; and refuses to sell back to me. At least I can visit it, as it’s such a special piece of my journey.&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-you-do-a-lot-of-work-for-charity-why-is-giving-back-so-important-to-you-nbsp">You do a lot of work for charity. Why is giving back so important to you?&nbsp;</h2>



<p>Growing up in the care system, I know firsthand what a difference help and support can make. That fuels my desire to give back, especially to young people who may be overlooked or disadvantaged. I’ve worked with struggling schools, running workshops, talks, meditations, and organizing school trips. More recently, I’ve been involved with the <a href="https://homewards.org.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Royal Foundation’s Homewards</a> project, aiming to reframe our understanding of homelessness. The fulfillment and purpose I get from this work is immense, and I wish I could do more. Once my meditation company launches, I’m excited to donate and help communities that need it most.&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-robi-s-london"><strong>Robi&#8217;s London </strong></h2>



<p><strong>Favourite restaurant:</strong> <a href="https://relaisdevenise.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Le Relais De Venise</a>. It’s where I first met my in-laws &#8211; an incredibly special moment. Plus, I adore French food.<br></p>



<p><strong>Favourite art gallery: </strong><a href="https://gagosian.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Gagosian</a>. I believe the cream rises to the top, and they showcase some of the best art on the planet.</p>

<p><strong>Favourite place for calm and quiet:</strong> There’s a rose garden in Regent’s Park with a secluded island in the middle &#8211; my top spot to sit and think.<br></p>



<p><strong>Favourite bar: </strong><a href="https://fitzroytavern.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Fitzroy Tavern</a> on Charlotte Street. There’s a cozy, firelit room upstairs where George Orwell used to hang out. Pure magic.<br></p>



<p><strong>Favourite hotel:</strong> <a href="https://www.1hotels.com/mayfair" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">1 Hotel</a>, hands down. The food is amazing, the rooms are some of the best I’ve stayed in, and the staff are just fantastic.<br></p>



<p><strong>Favourite café:</strong> <a href="https://www.instagram.com/barbruno101/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bar Bruno</a> on the corner of Peter Street and Wardour Street. A proper café &#8211; you even leave smelling like one!<br></p>



<p><strong>Favourite place to walk:</strong> Hampstead Heath, venturing off the beaten track through the trees. I climb a couple of them, too, and still want to swim in one of the ponds someday.<br></p>
