<p>No surprise a Michelin-starred pub has a ravishing roast. There&#8217;s a big focus on game and wild food at Harwood, which makes for some interesting choices &#8211; it&#8217;s not often you see slow-cooked deer shoulder on the Sunday roast menu at your local. Connoisseurs can breathe a sigh of relief, though, because it&#8217;s served with all the traditional trimmings &#8211; Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, baked carrots, cauliflower cheese and greens. And it&#8217;s not just the mains that are mouth-watering, think venison scotch egg for starter and Pimms trifle for dessert. The only problem? It tends to get booked up weeks in advance. </p>

<p>With a solid reputation for its top notch British game and wild, foraged food, it&#8217;s no surprise that posh pub The Jugged Hare&#8217;s Sunday offering is a major hit too. On the menu? Longhorn beef, roast pork belly and half a free range chicken from Somerset, all accompanied by a Yorkshire pudding, duck fat roast potatoes with buttery seasonal vegetables and rotisserie gravy. </p>

<p>Famously owned by singer James Blunt, this cosy country meets city inn should really be making headlines for its food, because it’s serving some of the best pub grub the city, particularly its Sunday roast. Available all day (music to the ears of parents and the hungover, or both), the menu includes classics such as roast beef sirloin with horseradish sauce and roast pork belly and apple sauce, served with Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, parsnip purée, crushed carrots and swede, green beans and gravy. Starving? Order the whole spatchcock chicken with bread sauce and stuffing to share.&nbsp;It&#8217;s beautiful, it&#8217;s true. </p>

<p>We love many things about Boundary, including its roof terrace for drinks in the summer, luxurious hotel rooms and delicious breakfasts, but perhaps the absolute highlight are its satisfyingly large and tasty Sunday roasts served in the downstairs brasserie. Can’t make up your mind between the classics (think roast beef, chicken, pork belly or veggie)? Then order the mega Mixed Roast and get a selection of each, with sides of duck-fat roasted potatoes, cauliflower cheese and Yorkshire puddings. If you can manage it, starters such as Maldon rock oysters and charcuterie board are worth ordering too.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This award-winning restaurant lays claim to the best Sunday roast in South London and Muddy has to concur, it’s great fodder. Start with the burrata, fig and parma ham with pomegranate, then loosen your belt and move on to the main event: 28-day aged Hereford sirloin with creamed horseradish and Yorkshire pudding, rolled roast pork belly with apple sauce, yorkies and crackling or roast squash and sage tart, miso caramel chestnuts and chilli samba, all served with squash, roast potatoes, glazed carrots, minted peas and gravy. Still hungry? Warm chocolate chip cookies with vanilla ice cream should do the trick. Just be sure to book well in advance.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A Cold Harbour Lane favourite that&#8217;s famous locally for its epic Sunday roasts. It&#8217;s hard not to drool just reading the menu, which includes free range lemon and orange half roasted chicken, Gloucester pork shoulder with apple sauce,  and sirloin of beef with horseradish, all served with carrots, roasted beetroot, spring greens, roasted potatoes, Yorkshire Pudding and red wine gravy. Sigh. The choice is epic but we&#8217;re pleased to report it&#8217;s not only about the carne, with plenty of plant-based options too, like a standout vegan nut loaf of artichoke, cranberry,&nbsp;butternut squash and mushroom. Muddy&#8217;s editorial assistant Joe&#8217;s mum heartily recommends the sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream for dessert if you have room, which is unlikely. </p>

<p>A popular gastro pub that&#8217;s satisfied hungry North Londoners with hangovers for decades. Its ever-changing Sunday roast menu never disappoints, from the soda bread and butter to the Old Spot pork loin. Not in the mood for a roast?  Not a problem with battered haddock and chips (triple cooked, obvs) and celeriac and mushroom Wellington available. Side-wise it&#8217;s all about the kale and garlic and frites with aioli. </p>

<p>If you love a roast so much you feel you need to take things to the next level, this cool little venue&#8217;s Sunday Roast Club could be the answer. Tucked away down a cobbled street deep in E5, each Sunday they open their doors to serve what some consider to be the best roast dinner out East. There are no starters, but there is a side of live jazz with your organic, free range chicken, beef or pork belly. A top spot for vegetarians, there are three choices including a succulent wild mushroom and truffle Wellington. Crumble, sticky toffee pudding and bread and butter pudding are the grand finale. Warning: don&#8217;t even consider turning up on the day, roasts this good have to be booked 24 hours in advance. </p>

<p>Purists will adore a Sunday sesh at The Wolseley. Not only is there live jazz, white table cloths, corn-fed roast chicken or sirloin of Herefordshire beef, Eton mess dessert and an impeccable wine list, but it&#8217;s all set in the elegant monochrome surroundings of a stunning building dating back to the 1920s. Pricey at £35, but oh so worth it. </p>

<p>At £27 with all the trimmings, Sunday roast at Hawksmoor (there are several branches but we love the one off Piccadilly), is a bit of a bargain. Think 35-day dry-aged beef rump, super-slow cooked on charcoal then finished in the oven and served with crispy beef dripping potatoes, buttered greens, carrots, fluffy yet crispy gigantic Yorkshire puddings, cauliflower cheese and lashings of Bone marrow gravy. Want to pimp your meal? There&#8217;s now a Sunday Feasting option, with pricier options like prime rib and chateaubriand. And don&#8217;t miss the Hawksmoor stuffing (£7) made from bone marrow, onions, posh sausage and fresh herbs.</p>
